Anthony Bourdain had recently bought artwork titled 'The Sky Is Falling, I Am Learning To Live With It'

Anthony Bourdain had purchased artwork titled, “The sky is falling, I am learning to live with it,” about a week before he committed suicide.

The artist, John Lurie, made the announcement on Twitter on May 30, writing that the piece is “now in the collection of Anthony Bourdain.”

Lurie also posted an image of the work which shows the head and shoulders of a human figure below a thicket of a yellow and brown abstract pattern on an all-blue background.

Bourdain had admitted to struggling with bouts of depression, saying on an episode of his CNN show “Parts Unknown,” “I feel kind of like a freak and I feel very isolated. I communicate for a living but I’m terrible at communicating with people I care about.”

However, the 61-year-old was said to have been in good spirits in the days leading up to his death on Friday.

“It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain,” CNN said in a statement. “His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time.”
