12 things to do around Jacksonville that don't require picking up a golf club

Jacksonville may be home to sunny beaches and some of the most pristine golf courses in the world, (we're looking at you, TPC)  but there are plenty of things to do in and around the city that don't require picking up a golf club or frying in the sand.

The North Florida city is actually known for its diverse wildlife, fresh seafood, expansive breweries and eclectic street art -- and it's quite affordable too. In fact, The Lonely Planet ranked Jacksonville on its list of the best value destinations for this past year.

One of the most popular destinations around Jacksonville includes The Catty Shack Wildlife Sanctuary, which provides homes for endangered cats. 
Head to Manifest Distilling, the only organic gin distillery in the whole state of Florida. Take a tour around the distillery and learn the process behind gin making, including mashing, fermentation and aging. 
Take a ride down the Jacksonville River with Kraken Cycle Boats, known for their "paddle pubs."
