The document lists the newborn’s name as His Royal Highness Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge. Louis (pronounced Louie) made his debut on Monday, April 23, in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital. He weighed in at 8 pounds, 7 ounces. Unlike his siblings Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 2, Louis’ birth certificate is typed and not handwritten.

Both Dad, 35, andDuchess Kate, 36, listed their occupations as Prince and Princess of the United Kingdom.

Prince Williamsigned the paper at his Kensington Palace residence on Tuesday, May 1. It was witnessed by Westminster City Council registrar Patricia Gordon.

“It has been a great honor to register and formally welcome the latest addition to the royal family, Prince Louis Arthur Charles,” Gordon said in a statement. “This follows a long history of Westminster City Council registering royal bites including Prince Louis’ siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte.”

The royal family’s newest addition is likely a tribute to Prince Philip’s late uncle Louis Mountbatten. Mountbatten was assassinated by members of the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRI) during a trip to Ireland in 1979.

Though William told the media on April 25 that Louis is sleeping “reasonably well,” that same day he was filmed dozing off during the annual Anzac Day Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey.

The release of Louis’ birth certificate comes just one day before his sister turns 3.
