Why Prince Louis likely won't be at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding

In just a few weeks, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will tie the knot in front of friends, family, and millions of people watching on TV from the comfort of their homes around the world. But there's one member of the House of Windsor might not be there: newborn Prince Louis.

The royal baby is likely too young to go to his Uncle Harry's wedding.

According to Dr. Robin Jacobson, pediatrician at NYU Langone Pediatric Associates at Irving Place in New York City, while infants can go out in public shortly after they are born, it is preferable for them to stay home for two months.

"In truth a newborn baby could go on a plane or be out in public even the day after they’re born. We prefer though, that they not for the first two months because the worry is they’re going to get sick," she tells T&C.

Dr. Jacobson also recommends that if newborns do go out in public during their first two months, they should be kept away from large crowds if at all possible.

"I tell my new moms and dads, a week after a new baby is born, if you want to go for a walk, if you’re not anywhere too crowded, it’s fine, but you really don’t want to be in big crowds until they’re two months old."

To put a finer point on it, she says, "Going to a wedding probably wouldn’t be the greatest thing to do when a baby is just born."

Given that baby Louis was only born on April 23, he will be less than four weeks old come May 19, so it's unlikely we'll see him involved in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding celebration. His older siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte, on the other hand, will have a role in the celebration.

That said, he met a crowd of photographers outside the Lindo Wing of the hospital when he was just a few hours old, so we can't say anything for certain just yet.
