Prince William is missing *this* super important event for his brother's pesky wedding

Prince William is making the ultimate sacrifice for his brother, Prince Harry, and soon-to-be sister-in-law, Meghan Markle.

When Kensington palace announced Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Windsor Castle wedding would take place on May 19—the same day as Prince William’s favorite sporting event, the Football Association Cup—William knew he would have to choose between soccer (aka football to the Brits) or family. Welp, in the battle between sports and brotherly love, Prince Harry was obviously victorious

To be fair, suiting up and showing up to both events is possible, but it’s a logistical nightmare. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding ceremony begins at noon and will continue into the evening.

The FA has yet to announce the official start time of the cup games, but kick off time has historically been around 5:30 p.m. Unless Prince William figures out how to clone himself (like Barbra Streisand’s dogs), he’ll have to watch the game like the rest of us: on TV. (JK we’re watching the royal wedding.)

Overzealous cheering and presenting the trophy at the Cup Final will have to wait until next year, dear William. This May 19 is all about tying bow ties and taking nips of scotch with Prince Harry. (At least that’s what we assume best man duties entail…)

The things we do for family, right?
