NYFW: Victoria Beckham heads back to the basics for Fall 2018

Updated

Sunday's show marked a milestone for Victoria Beckham, who just marked 10 years with her designer line. The British icon began her collection in 2008 in a hotel suite in Waldorf Towers -- and now makes her name as one of New York Fashion Week's most prestigious designers.

"When I started 10 years ago, it was about celebrating the female form and that’s still the message," Beckham said. It holds true for Beckham to this day.

To debut her Fall 2018 collection, Beckham opted for a more intimate show to allow spectators a better glimpse of her ready-to-wear treasury. She explained, “I want you to be able to see the details, and to hear them," according to Vogue in a preview.

Included on the runway were simple silhouettes in monochromatic colors, a procession of coats and tailored outerwear in forest greens, greens and navy. Beckham went for detail for her new line, spicing things up with strappy belts, exquisite ruching, timely shoulder pads and military-esque buttons. A gorgeously-designed leopard trench coat made an appearance, garnering a collective gasp from the audience.

Alas, no Beckham fashion show is complete without an appearance from the Beckham broad. After taking a victory lap after her final look, Beckham took the time to wave to the audience members and make her way to her family, embracing each of them individually.
