Duchess Kate faces controversial fashion dilemma ahead of BAFTA Awards

Updated

Duchess Kate may have found herself in a bit of a fashion dilemma.

The 36-year-old royal is set to attend the BAFTA Awards on Sunday, where a good number of its female attendees will wear black in support of the Time's Up campaign as many did for the Golden Globes in early January.

However, royal protocol forbids Kate from making public political statements -- and that includes the color of her outfits. If the Duchess of Cambridge chooses not to wear black for the awards show, she could face severe backlash for not supporting the movement that began after a wave of sexual harassment allegations in Hollywood.

If you recall, Kate attended the ceremony last year in an off-the-shoulder black Alexander McQueen gown decorated with white flowers. Kensington Palace has remained silent on Kate's BAFTA Awards outfit ahead of the ceremony.

Prince William will also be in attendance at the BAFTAs to present the prestigious Fellowship award to Sir Ridley Scott. William has been the president of BAFTA since 2010.
