NYFW: Jeremy Scott Fall 2018 was a futuristic frenzy

Updated

Jeremy Scott blasted off for his NYFW debut.

Of course, we expected nothing less from the eccentric designer for his ready-to-wear collection. In a whimsical mix, Scott looked to galactic flashes, nostalgic 80s and 90s structures and lots and lots of fluorescent lighting to create his Fall 2018 line.

Think kaleidoscope rainwear, moon boots, sci-fi colored wigs and uni-sex metallic suits.

"It's like a track jacket and a bra had a baby," Scott explained to Vogue about the collection.

Opening AND closing the show was an almost-unrecognizable Gigi Hadid, who donned a luminous pink wig for both features. Her entry featured sheer pink stockings, a tight pink crop top-like jacket and metallic overalls, complete with metallic shoes. What followed in suit was a neon parade of erratic prints (leopard, stripes) in different textures, hues and mediums.

Parachute-like cuts, crop top ensembles, structured skirts and latex rainwear made appearances, as did reminiscent glow-in-the-dark plastic jewelry. Scott's futuristic show lived up to his previous outlandish collections, no doubt to be beloved by go-tos like Justin Beiber, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Madonna on the red carpet.
