Duchess Kate channels Princess Diana with houndstooth Catherine Walker outfit in Sweden

Updated

Duchess Kate made a statement, yet again, with her recent outfit.

The 36-year-old royal dazzled the crowd in Stockholm on Wednesday in a custom houndstooth Catherine Walker coat dress, another bold style that she has rocked during her Scandinavian tour. She paired the rest of the look with a merlot-hued clutch, block-heeled pumps from Italian label Tod's and Princess Diana's pearl-drop earrings.

Coincidentally, Princess Kate channeled her late mother-in-law in another way. At Princess Eugenie's christening in Sandringham in 1990, Diana rocked a similar Moschino jacket that she paired with a skirt of the same pattern.

And it's safe to say that Kate isn't playing it safe in the fashion department. She wore a saffron yellow Erdem floral gown at a black-tie dinner just the night before, a stark contrast from her more feminine (think lace and sparkles) stylistic choices.

William and Kate's itinerary for their second day in Stockholm includes a visit to a comprehensive school and a department store. The two will then head to Norway for the duration of their trip. Watch the video above for more highlights of their royal tour!
