Chip Gaines gets 'teary eyed' over heartfelt notes from his four children

Go Chip!

It sounds like "Fixer Upper" star has an incredible support system rooting for him as he trains to complete his first marathon in 2018. Gaines took to Instagram on Sunday to show sweet notes written by his four children, Drake, 12, Ella, 11, Duke, 8, and Emmie Kay, 7 -- and it'll make your heart melt!

"7.2 mile long run in the books! I got teary-eyed this AM when I saw this. But at mile 5 it was the only thing I could think of," Chip captioned the photograph.

"Go get 'em on your seven-mile run," read Drake's note.

“I love you so much and I hope this run feels amazing! You got this!” Ella sweetly wrote to her dad.

And judging by his Instagram, sliced apples, peanut butter, Emergen-C and a banana is Chip's go-to pre-run meal.

If you recall, Chip had a bumpy start to his marathon journey in early January. The 43-year-old home renovation guru has been chronicling his progress on Magnolia's blog.

"Monday was my first official day of training, and all I can really say is -- that hurt," Gaines wrote. "We set a modest goal of 1.7 miles for my first run ... the only thing I’m absolutely sure of is that I can run .2 miles."

Chip will run his first race ever at the inaugural Silo District Marathon put on by the Gaines family. The May 6 event will include a full marathon, a half marathon and a 5K. For more on Chip's running journey, watch the video above!
