Dubai's cult beauty brand, Luscious Cosmetics, makes its debut in the US

There are a few beauty stories that truly leave us feeling inspired and empowered. Enter Mehrbano Sethi, CEO of Luscious Cosmetics. The creator and founder of the brand revealed to AOL Lifestyle how her line went from Boston dorm room to one of the fastest growing makeup brands.

"I had to put my career in International Relations on hold and go back home to Pakistan to spend time with my mother who was battling breast cancer," says Sethi. "I lost her soon after, and I needed something I was really passionate about to get back on track."

Thus, Luscious Cosmetics was born.

Sethi, who used to tweak her friend's beauty products to suit their complexions in college, was frustrated by what lacked in the beauty market -- an affordable, high-quality product that was made for women of color.

"Most of my friends wanted highly pigmented lipsticks, which I would help them create by mixing them together adding mate eyeshadow for texture," says Sethi.

After her mother's death and several years of researching what really goes into creating quality makeup, Luscious Cosmetics was created. The self-proclaimed makeup addict is now celebrating over 10 years of success with her vegan-friendly and cruelty-free brand.

"I'm so grateful for the success we've had in connecting with our fans and customers," says Sethi. "The past 10 years have seen more changes in the beauty industry and beauty consumers than ever before."

After a loyal following in the Middle East, Sethi recently made the jump to launching her cosmetics in the U.S.

"Each Luscious product is designed and formulated with a lot of passion and we don't ever release anything that doesn't meet our high standards for great performance," says Sethi.
