First grader gives remarkable answer to tricky word puzzle
Bret Turner, a grade school teacher at Oakland, California’s Head-Royce School, has been sharing some of his daily work experiences via Twitter, and one of the tweets has amused some and worried others, reports the Washington Post.
In a Tuesday post, Turner shared a puzzle he’d recently presented to his class.
“I am the beginning of everything, the end of everywhere. I’m the beginning of eternity, the end of time & space,” it read.
The first guess from one of my 1st graders was “death” and such an awed, somber, reflective hush fell over the class that I didn’t want to tell them that actually the answer is the letter e, which just seemed so banal in the moment pic.twitter.com/7sYFxHNcZk

“The first guess from one of my 1st graders was ‘death’ and such an awed, somber, reflective hush fell over the class that I didn’t want to tell them that actually the answer is the letter e, which just seemed so banal in the moment,” Turner wrote.
Replies included, “Give that kid the ‘A’ I expect a great screenplay from him/her some day,” and, “please, seriously, get that poor kid some help. When I was 6, I would have said bunnies, or the Virgin Mary, or something else warm and fuzzy.”
