Study says men are less eco-friendly because it is unmanly
Being green is unmasculine?
Well, a new study from Scientific American says that men are worried that living eco-friendlier lives will make them look less manly and more feminine.
So researchers took a look at more than 2000 American and Chinese participants.
In one experiment, people described someone who brought a reusable canvas bag to the store as more feminine than someone who used a plastic bag.
Just saying, guys, if you bring your own reusable bag to Whole Foods, you could start up a conversation with an eco-friendly female about where she got her re-usable bag.
Also, when given a gift card, men were more likely to purchase non-green versions of the same products.
Scientific American suggests that companies and marketers should come up with eco-friendly marketing campaigns that also affirm men’s masculinity in the process.
And, isn’t being educated and learning to save the environment heroic ...and manly?
