Holiday Heroes: Christmas in Braddock

Updated

For our last episode of Holiday Heroes, we're learning how one local woman is bringing holiday cheer to her small town.

Braddock, Pennsylvania, a small town outside of Pittsburgh, was once a thriving steel town. But once its mines closed, the town lost nearly 90% percent of its population.

But Gisele Fetterman doesn't mind -- it's her home. Fetterman founded the Braddock "Free Store," which helps give out supplies to those who need it most and encourages residents to pay it forward. Serving nearly 1600 people a month, the volunteer-run store is integral to many's survival.

And they go above and beyond for the holidays.

Their annual Christmas event spreads the holiday cheer to nearly 200 kids and their families. Watch the video above to learn more about the Free Store's work!
