She may be a future princess (in our eyes), now engaged to our favorite royal -- but once upon a time, Meghan Markle was just like us! And this snap proves it.

The snapshot shows young Meghan on a summer trip in 1996, posing with a friend near the gates of the Palace. Sporting a pair of black sunnies, oversized bag and dress, Meghan proves she was too a teenager who fell victim to the skinny sunglasses fad and slip-on platform shoe trend of the decade.
Sitting next to Meghan is an old friend Ninaki Priddy, who told The Daily Mail that she isn't too "shocked" by the royal engagement.

"She gets exactly what she wants and Harry has fallen for her play. She was always fascinated by the Royal Family. She wants to be Princess Diana 2.0. She will play her role ably, but my advice to him is to tread cautiously," she said to the publication.
Meghan is set to become a British citizen, get baptized and confirmed all before the much-anticipated May 2018 wedding.
