Duchess Kate steps out in casual look for day of gardening

Updated

We all know that Duchess Kate is one thrifty royal, and she lived up to that claim on Wednesday when she stepped out in an oldie-but-goodie pair of riding boots -- her trusty Penelope Chilvers pair that she's had for over a decade!

The 35-year-old royal, who is pregnant with baby No. 3, visited Robin Hood Primary School to celebrate their work with the Royal Horticultural Society Campaign for School Gardening. For the outdoor occasion, Kate opted for dark denim, a black sweater underneath a Barbour jacket and her Penelope Chilvers boots. She flaunted a hint of her baby bump in the casual ensemble.

The first time Kate was spotted in those boots was during the early stages of her relationship with Prince William. She was first seen in the long tassel boots at the Game Fair at Blenheim Palace in August 2004, and has worn them countless of times ever since.

Photographs of the mother to Prince George and Princess Charlotte show her interacting with the young students. The Duchess began laughing after she learned that one of the outdoor areas was named "Bug-ingham Palace" in a nod to the royal residence. Kate also put on a pair of gloves as she joined students who were tending the garden.

The outing comes after a whirlwind week for the royal family following the announcement of Prince Harry's engagement to actress Meghan Markle.
