While you may be looking forward to that sweet potato casserole, chances are its doing your waistline more harm than good -- a 3/4 cup serving boasts 285 calories and 5 grams of fat. The same goes for those mashed potatoes filled with margarine and whole milk, which will set you back 237 calories and 9 grams of fat per serving. 

And here's a pro tip -- if you're choosing between dark and white meat, opt for the latter. A 3 ounce serving of white meat contains 115 calories and 7 grams of fat versus dark meat which has 160 calories and 11 grams of fat. 

So what foods should you be piling on your plate? You can never go wrong with yummy veggies like corn and spinach that are rich in fiber and low in calories.
