Melania Trump departs for Asia in dazzling Emilio Pucci look

Updated

Purple is definitely Melania Trump's color!

The first lady departed for a nearly two week-long trip to Asia in style, turning heads in a striking purple Emilio Pucci coat dress that she paired with stilettos of the same hue and dark sunglasses. The belted number hit below the knees and showed off her toned stems.

Emilio Pucci continues to be one of the first lady's favorite designers. Back in June, Melania donned a cheer yellow floral frock from the Italian fashion house to meet India's prime minister. The floor-length look, which she accessorized with a chunky belt, was one of her most memorable looks of the summer.

Melania has been loving her coat dresses lately, wearing a camel-hued Bottega Veneta look for a trick-or-treating event at the White House the day before Halloween. Clean, tailored looks are a mainstay of Melania's style, which have garnered comparisons to Jackie Kennedy's.

The first lady recently stepped out in a $1,150 pale pink Acne Studios coat for the Homeland Security Secretary nomination ceremony. Similarly, she donned a striking coat dress from New York-based designer Alice Roi during a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in March 2016.

Of course, she can rock a suit like no one else, having stepped out in looks by Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren in recent weeks.

The first couple is headed to Asia for the longest presidential trip in years. The president and first lady will visit Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines until November 14.
