Bridal Week: Sachin & Babi Fall/Winter 2018

Updated

You may know designers Sachin & Babi from their exquisite ready-to-wear line, but their most recent bridal collection was something else.

The designer powerhouse's Fall/Winter 2018 bridal collection emitted a timeless, elegant effervescence that can only be achieved through bridal couture itself: Think ethereal pieces, romantic detailing, soft tulle transforming classic bridal into high fashion pieces -- it was a look that only the modern bride can only dream of.

"It's an ode to classics and an ode to keeping things super light and fresh. Whether it's a play on threadwork, details and tulle. We used origami detail and material that's normally used for three-dimensional pressed flowers onto tulle," said Babi, one-half of the creative couple, of the new line.

As for trends, Babi "tries not to listen" to what everyone else is doing, but instead "march to the drum of her own beat." It's a mentality that's reflected in these individual designs.

Take a look at the exquisite collection:

From the Sachin & Babi take on a princess gown to modern trousers and a bustier with an added coat dress, the line seeks to transform classic bridal styles and make them more unique. "It's just about keeping things youthful and refreshed -- and going back to the age-old embroideries and textures that we love really," the designer explained.

She maintained, "We have actually reached out to the girls who love fashion entirely... So for girls who have a palate for fashion, but really have a traditional sensibility in their head too. We found these girls who don't really want the ubiquitous Swan Lake-kind of pieces."

For Babi, it's not just about how a bride looks in the dress, but how she feels. "For me, it's all about these girls who are pushing their own envelope or their own medium," the designer concluded.
