Country star Maren Morris slams 'prudes' criticizing her crop top

Updated

Maren Morris isn't here for all the negativity.

The country singer shared a photo of herself wearing a sparkly bandeau with detachable short jeans while posing with her fiancé Ryan Hurd. In the caption, she boldly addressed her critics:

"Hey, while prudes are bit**ing about my clothes, let's make babies. :)," wrote Morris alongside the snapshot.

She continued in a subsequent tweet: "Honestly, I'm over the slut-shaming that goes on here. I'm a self-sufficient woman who loves her body. Get over it, thanks. :)"

The "My Church" hitmaker, who isn't afraid to show a little skin, has hit the red carpet through the years in some bold looks. She recently made an appearance at the ACM Honors in a shimmery metallic bra that she paired with a white skirt.

Fans of the 27-year-old star quickly praised her for her body-positivity message:

"Anytime a woman dares to be successful, confident, herself the insecure and threatened start up with the name calling and body shaming," wrote one fan.

"I'm so sick of seeing everyone bash everyone like damn people can't we at least try to be nice. You wear whatever you want. PREACH," shared another.

Morris has quite a successful career, having won a Country Music Award, an American Music Award and a Grammy. Unfortunately, Morris isn't the first female celebrity to spark backlash over her fashion. Ariel Winter, star of "Modern Family," has repeatedly made headlines over her scandalous outfits.

In several interviews, Winter has spoken out about the backlash: "If it's a little revealing, whatever," Winter told Yahoo earlier this year.
