NYFW: Zimmermann fulfills our romantic dreams for Spring 2018

Updated

It's #Goldentime for Zimmermann.

It's an exciting time for the Australian fashion house, known for their romantic and flirty resort and beachwear.

Beloved by both influencers and the fashion elite, Zimmermann has made quite a name for itself in the United States. Aside from participating in a handful of fashion weeks, being carried in an impressive amount of department stores, the brand is set on expanding their consumer base with new stores across the country, the designers are to open their fourth New York store this month.

The hashtag fits the designer's Spring 2018 collection perfectly. According to Nicky Zimmermann, the creative behind the brand, #Goldentime is emblematic of the new ready-to-wear line, inspired by the retro Australian beach culture during the 60s.

"GOLDENTIME: For Spring 18, I was inspired by images from the 60's and 70's of the sunny, beachside strip called the Gold Coast in Australia. Beachside suburbs like Surfers Paradise were developed into glamorous holiday spots, and the must-visit honeymoon destination of the time," she wrote on their Instagram.

Zimmermann continued, "I was really attracted to the simple, nostalgic feeling in the photos – the somewhat kitschy hotels and apartments contrasted with the surf, the beautiful white sandy beaches and a radiant, golden light. The clear light is something very Australian for me and something I'm always drawn to. The blues are bluer and the colour just goes pop."

Think entrancing patterns, amorous ruffles, padded shoulders, belly-deep v-cuts and turtlenecks. Staying true to Zimmerman's style, most pieces feature color-on-white details, beautiful lace, buttons and ruching. For the spring season, some favorites of the collections include patterned pantsuits, off-the-shoulder silhouttes, and Victorian-inspired minidresses.

The designers jumped at this at-the-beach motif by making the audience and models feel like they were right on the boardwalk. Sand wasn't covering the runway, but instead, tinted windows filled the room, reflecting rainbow prisms throughout the venue.

One of the designer's biggest supporters Lady Kitty Spencer made an appearance at the New York City show. The 26-year-old niece of Princess Diana sat front row in a long sleeved Zimmermann-look alike dress with simple ruffles and blue florals.
