NYFW: Delicate neutrals dominate in Jonathan Simkhai's Spring/Summer 2018 collection

Updated

If your closet is already stocked with neutral tones and comfy chambray, you're on track to channel Jonathan Simkhai's new collection come spring.

A star-studded front row -- Halsey, Olivia Palermo and Shay Mitchell were among the celebrity guests -- marveled over delicate but structured crochet, embroidered ivory fabrics and ribbon-cinched waists.

Models' windswept curls added to the vacation-friendly vibe of numbers well-suited for a trip to Santorini. Other ensembles were more appropriate for galas or red carpets, including a series of black ankle-length gowns and a floaty one-sleeved pantsuit in cream silk.

Simkhai's "approach felt organic and much less about frill or bling," Vogue wrote following the show. "The designer's Spring clothes showed off his fine talent at fabric manipulation, crochet, and lacework, especially when it came to the pair of sleeveless macramé dresses in white and navy. His use of suede—for a beautiful blue trench, belted jacket, and wrap skirt—was also notable."

Other famous faces in the audience were Sabrina Carpenter, Jamie Chung and Simon Huck. The Saturday afternoon show preceded Alexander Wang, which also attracted a predictably high number of stars, including Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner.
