Kendall Jenner slammed after people learn she's to receive 'Fashion Icon of the Decade' award

Updated

She may be only 21 years old, but over the past few years, Kendall Jenner has been making a name for herself in the fashion world.

The second youngest daughter of the Kardashian empire has walked in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, twice, slayed the runway during a handful of fashion weeks, launched her own clothing line with sister Kylie, and has scored a plethora of beauty campaigns.

There's no doubt that the young beauty should be recognized for these accomplishments.

But when it was recently announced that she would receive the prestigious "Fashion Icon of the Decade" award at this year's FMA's, people were not pleased. Critics took to Twitter to slam the model, unhappy with this distinction from The Daily Front Row.

While many acknowledge Jenner's huge involvement in the fashion world, critics were baffled by the "decade" part of the award -- she's only been modeling professionally since 2009. Some expressed their outrage that stars like Rihanna, Naomi Campbell and Beyonce were overlooked.

Among the show's other honorees include Lena Dunham, Mario Testino and Joanna Coles.
