The best beauty looks at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards

Updated

Summer went out with a bang thanks to the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.

Hosted by Katy Perry, the annual awards show has been hyped to be one of the most dramatic of the year. If you're not too apt in Hollywood drama, everyone was anxious to get their fill of the ongoing feud between Perry and Taylor Swift.

Swift, just a few days ago, dropped her new single "Look What You Made Me Do." The music video for the dark ballad premiered Sunday night at the awards show, introduced by none other than Perry herself.

Girl group Fifth Harmony also had their fair share of shady moments. During their VMA performance, the group of four "threw" someone off the stage -- no doubt a slam at former bandmate Camila Cabello.

And while the show was filled with (anticipated) stirring moments, the red carpet was incredibly memorable as well.

Walked by stars like Perry, Kesha and Vanessa Hudgens, the VMA red carpet undoubtedly set the beauty bar high, as it's done in the past. Nicki Minaj embraced the millennial pink obsession with a dual blonde-pink split, while Perry embodied 60s' vibes with her glossy blonde pixie.

Hudgens pioneered the way with one of summer's hottest makeup trends, jewel tone eye shadow. From bright pinks, orange hues and bold reds, the fad was embraced by stars like Lorde, Perry and Olivia Munn.

While Munn subtly perfected the summer gaze, her lips were talking fall. The beauty's dark red pout, tousled bob and bronzed cheeks qualified the star as one of the best beauty looks of the night.
