Saks' shoe department is so big, it has its own zip code

Saks Fifth Avenue is an institution.

The renowned luxury department store, which was founded in 1867 and operates 46 stores worldwide, is known as the premier shopping destination around the globe. Their legacy is evidenced by the mass of crowds the flagship draws daily --- tourists with backpacks and heel-clad women congregate outside the store daily, waiting for the signal to enter.

Luckily, on this particular day, we were able to sneak in before the heavy gold doors opened to the public. In a true Carrie Bradshaw moment, we were overwhelmed by an unexpected quietness of the flagship store. After all, there were no crowds, no salespeople, no muffled elevator music.

But still, the store gave off a sense of esteem, compromised by its longstanding history. Such an accomplishment is manifested in one of their spaces so big it deserves its own zip code -- which it was granted 10 years ago.

The 30,000 Saks shoe salon, named 10022-Shoe boasts an incredible history. Aside from having its own zip code, the salon has held an exhibition of ruby slippers for the 70th anniversary of "The Wizard of OZ", a shop-in-shop with Manolo Blahnik and showcased Cinderella's glass slippers, to name a few.

But this year, they went above and beyond to honor this incredible milestone. From Saint Laurent to Dior, Prada to Jimmy Choo, the salon is offering exclusive designer styles, made-to-order programs (including customizable shoes) and more.

Most impressively, the fifth Avenue salon is showcasing a series of 10 interactive art installations, all clad with the most impressive designer trends, impressing even the biggest of shoe lovers. It's a real-life museum that celebrates all the magic Saks has to offer.

Although the installation is only open until Sunday (sad, we know), hopefully these incredible powerhouse perks will last a little longer.
