Five ways to book flights without going broke

Traveling doesn't have to be as expensive as you think. These tricks can make those usually pricey flights a little friendlier on your wallet.

1. Book on the right day

Tuesdays at 3 p.m. are often best because many airlines announce deals on Monday evenings. By Tuesday afternoon, other airlines are trying to offer better prices than their competitors.

2. Avoid price jumps

Delete your history or enable private browsing so airlines can't use cookies to charge you more for flights you've been searching.
