Vanity Fair piece reveals how Melania Trump got her figure -- according to her ex-roommate

Vanity Fair published its buzzed-about piece on Melania Trump last week, entitled "Inside the Trump Marriage: Melania's Burden." Aside from diving headfirst into the main topic of her marriage with President Trump -- insisting that something is indeed "amiss with the Trumps" -- the article also touches on Melania's life before meeting the mogul.

According to the magazine, a former roommate of hers, a photographer named Matthew Atanian, dished on the steps the first lady took to make it as a model when she first moved to New York City in 1996:

"Demonstrating admirable Slavic discipline, 'she wore ankle weights around the apartment and the common areas," recalls Atanian. 'She would strictly eat five to seven vegetables and fruits every day. She drank a lot of water . . . . She was looking to make money [as a model].'"

Atanian apparently went on to say that FLOTUS never made it big because she was "kind of a stiff person" and "couldn't move." Melania would go on to meet her future husband, Donald Trump, two years later in 1998.

Rumors have been swirling about a looming "hit piece" like this one since the beginning of April. Furthermore, speculation surrounding the status of the Trumps' marriage has been a topic of conversation since Inauguration Day -- but it gained even more steam when reports about the couple's sleeping arrangement surfaced in late March.
