Steve Madden slinky slides are coming back

Updated

My high school wardrobe consisted of three key things: an Abercrombie & Fitch denim mini, black cropped polo shirt, and Steve Madden Slinky slides. It's embarrassing when I think about how #basic it is, but I went to high school in the suburbs in the early 2000s, and this wardrobe was as cool-girl as you could get. Well, ICYMI, everything from the '90s and early '00s is cool again, so Steve Madden is rolling out its classic sandals for summer 2017.

I don't know how to feel about the Steve Madden Slinky resurgence. I think I'm excited about it, but I'm not sure I can rock my high school shoes all over again. It's like stirrup pants; Once you wore them the first time, the new ones are better left to the teens who have never seen them before. I'm a fan of '90s grunge right now, Kate Moss-style slip dresses and Dr. Martens combat boots, because I'm too young (barely) to have worn the style the first time around.

What I do remember about Slinkys is how comfortable they can be. The flatform sole isn't too high, and the stretchy upper molds to your foot. This alone probably makes them worth another try. But you cannot get me in a low-rise mini skirt, so don't even try, A&F.

You can pre-order Steve Madden Slinky slides now for $69.95 on stevemadden.com, and they'll ship to you this July.
