Best Bites: Ham and cheese scones

Easter is right around the corner, so it's the perfect time to start planning your brunch menu. What better way to celebrate the holiday than with this savory spin on a breakfast staple? Made with crispy ham and gooey cheese, these crumbly scones will be the hit of the party.

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 black pepper
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cold stick unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp whole milk
  • 4 oz cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 oz ham, diced
  • 1/3 cup scallions, chopped


  1. Mix flour, salt and pepper.
  2. Add in baking powder, baking soda and sugar.
  3. Mix, mix, mix!
  4. Add in butter.
  5. Work with fingers until mealy.
  6. In a separate bowl beat yogurt, egg and milk.
  7. Combine mixes.
  8. Mix, mix, mix!
  9. Mix in cheese, ham and scallions.
  10. Sprinkle flour on flat surface.
  11. Roll mix into 8 inch round circle.
  12. Cut into 8 wedges.
  13. Place on baking sheet.
  14. Bake at 400 for 18-20 minutes.
  15. Dig in!
