For years, peeps have topped the list of America's most popular candy for Easter. However, the sugar-coated marshmallow treat has recently been dethroned.

The Reeses Peanut Butter Egg reigns supreme. It actually makes more sense seeing as how the Easter bunny lays candy eggs!

The study, conducted by RetailMeNot, surveyed their users and found that 53 percent chose the peanut butter eggs as their favorite Easter candy.

The classics, chocolate bunnies and jelly beans, tied at 48 percent. Only 45 percent preferred Hershey eggs. However, Peeps still made the top 5 list with 34 percent.

There was no research done on how many people prefer the peeps Oreo, but maybe that cut into their market share in the world of candy.

While this was an unofficial poll, perhaps people who love peeps will demand a recount.
