Beija Flor jeans supposedly reduce cellulite

No one is immune to cellulite (90 percent of women deal with it so stop beating yourself up). To battle it, we can slather on creams, buff with scrubs promising to minimize our lumps and bumps or embrace it with a powerful cellulite selfie à la Ashley Graham (see, even supermodels aren't immune). Or we can simply throw on a pair of cellulite-reducing jeans and wear our way to smoother skin, says one company.

Jeans company Beija Flor promises to deliver more than just a slimming fit — supposedly, their skinny jeans reduce cellulite. For under $200 a pair, the collection of cute crops, skinny jeans, and bootcut denim promises to make your butt look good by actually improving the appearance of your naked derrière.

The answer to this too-good-to-be-true technology lies in the fabric. Rather than ordinary denim, Beija Flor jeans are made with a fabric technology called "Emana" The idea is that tiny biocrystals embedded in the fabric absorb your body heat and then transfer the heat waves back to you for constant skin stimulation that's believed to create a smoother look. When worn for six hours a day for a month, the jeans promise to deliver a visible reduction in cellulite along with smoother, more youthful-looking skin.

Given the major advancements that have been made in wearable tech over the last few years, high-tech fabrics in everyday items are becoming more common. And there is some research to back up the cellulite-reducing claims: The same body heat reflecting technology (called far infrared ray or FIR technology) has been used to aid muscle recovery and sports performance in athletes thanks to its circulation-boosting benefits.

Promoting healthier muscles and skin circulation just by doing something you probably do every day anyway (or at least on the weekends) is awesome. And while we have yet to test out the cellulite-reducing claims of the denim, we love the very real confidence boost delivered by a pair of good-butt jeans. But just like other cellulite treatments, these jeans aren't a miracle cure. As evidenced by the growing number of empowering cellulite selfies popping up on social media and in major ad campaigns, cellulite is normal. Your butt will look great in or out of Beija Flor jeans either way.
