Emily Ratajkowski's trick for clear skin is too simple to skip

Updated

Everyone wants clear skin. So much so that they'd do just about anything to get it. You know, like, dousing our faces with half a dozen creams, lotions, and serums that promise to rid our complexions of redness, pimples, and blackheads, or even completely switching up our cleansing routine later in life. Kendall and Kylie swear by acetone and dry ice slushie facials. But the bottom line is this: It takes a lot of work to get great skin. But, apparently, that's not necessarily the case for Emily Ratajkowski. According to the model, getting glow-y skin is almost too easy. Behold, Emily Ratajkowski's trick for clear skin.

"[Before bed], I chug water and take off my make-up...I sleep the best in my own bed, which is too bad because I'm not sleeping in my bed enough," she told Harper's Bazaar. Aaaaaand, that's it. Kinda unfair, huh?

Ratajkowski didn't say whether she used cleansing cloths, soap and water, or good old-fashioned makeup remover to take off her beat. (We're honestly just relieved she's not one of those people who doesn't even bother washing their faces and still looks damn good, like how some svelte celebrities swear they only eat cheesesteaks and banana splits.) And we're fans of all removal three methods. Although with one caveat: We previously chatted with Ranella Hirsch, a clinical assistant professor of dermatology at Boston University School of Medicine, who cued us in that many of us aren't actually using the handy dandy little wipes quite right.

"Wipes get a bad rap, but it's not the wipes, it's the fact that nobody is using them properly," says Hirsh. "People just swipe superfast. You need to allow what's impregnated into the wipe to do its work." How, you ask? Close your eyes and let the cloth sit on top of them for a few seconds. From there, gently rub the cloth back and forth, which will "do the job of taking the makeup off for you." Once you've finished wiping, reach for your eight-ounce glass of water and start chugging à la Emily.
