Blind dog found after being lost in Santa Cruz mountains for eight days

A blind Labrador retriever named Sage who went missing in the Santa Cruz Mountains has been reunited with her family, reports KGO.

Despite searches and a Facebook post asking for information, the dog was gone for eight days, and her owners had almost given up hope that she would ever be found.

Then, on Saturday something miraculous happened. A neighbor out for a hike with a friend spotted the dog in a river, notes KSBW.

Rescuer Dan Estrada recalls, "At first I thought it was a garbage bag in the water...it wasn't until I got closer that I saw it's actually a white lab laying there lifeless in this stream..."

Though he feared the dog had died, Sage soon lifted her head out of the water.

Estrada then picked her up and carried her home. Sage's owners offered him a $1,000 reward but he declined.
