Calling all cereal lovers! March 7th is National Cereal Day, which means it's time to go all out for the yummy holiday. Whether you're a Lucky Charms addict or Fruity Pebbles fanatic, we've got the most delicious recipes for you.
It's no surprise that cereal is one of the most popular breakfast foods out there. With over 2.7 million boxes sold every year in the United States alone, there is a box of cereal for everyone -- vegans, sweet tooths and health nuts all have plenty of variety!
Each year, companies vamp up our pantry game with delicious new additions and creations. But we'll always have our classic favorites -- like Wheaties, which we've loved since 1921.
The average person consumes more than 160 bowls of cereal a year, but we're mixing it up with these delicious takes. So grab a spoon and get snacking!
Take a bite out of these cereal recipes, perfect for National Cereal Day:
Line 2-1/2- to 3-qt. bowl with foil, extending foil about 2 inches beyond edge of bowl. Lightly grease foil; set aside.
Place butter in 4-qt. microwaveable bowl sprayed with cooking spray. Microwave on high 45 sec. or until butter is melted. Add marshmallows; stir to coat. Microwave 1-1/2 min. or until marshmallows are completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring after 45 sec. Microwave an additional 4 min., stirring after 2 min. Add cereal; mix well.
Place cereal mixture in foil-lined bowl; press firmly onto bottom and up side of bowl to form thick shell. Let stand in cool dry place at least 4 hours or overnight until firm. Remove cereal shell from bowl, using foil handles. Carefully peel off foil. Fill shell as desired. Makes 24 servings.
