NYFW: Marc Jacobs keeps it simple with no music at Fall/Winter 2017 show

As New York Fashion Week came to a close Thursday, Marc Jacobs wanted all eyes on the clothes at his Fall/Winter 2017 runway show at the Park Avenue Armory. At the partially outdoor affair, models in bold hats (including Kendall Jenner) walked to the sound of silence before posing in metal folding chairs.

As for the inspiration behind the collection, the designer explained it in his own words on Instagram, saying:

"As a born and bred New Yorker, it was during my time at the High School of Art and Design when I began to see and feel the influence of hip-hop on other music as well as art and style. This collection is my representation of the well-studied dressing up of casual sportswear. It is an acknowledgement and gesture of my respect for the polish and consideration applied to fashion from a generation that will forever be the foundation of youth culture street style."

The dressed-up casual sportswear included fur-lined coats, wide-legged pants, platform shoes with mid-calf socks and a bright red track suit (a piece that wasn't uncommon on the runway this season, with designers like Badgley Mischka featuring the same).
