These days, it's rarity to see a runway without Kendall Jenner on it. The reality starlet turned model has been dominating New York Fashion Week's fall 2017 presentations, walking in every show from La Perla to Oscar de la Renta and Alexander Wang. But Kendall Jenner didn't attend the Yeezy show, the fifth from her brother-in-law Kanye West and his high-end athleisure imprint for Adidas. Kendall's absence was all the more glaring as her sisters Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, who's been taking in many of Jenner's NYFW Fall/Winter 2017 shows, sat front row.

So where was Kendall Jenner? In this case, the simplest answer is correct: she was working. Jenner was modeling not one but two looks for designer Anna Sui in the midst of Kanye's show, according to reports. It's easy to assume that Jenner wasn't able to block out the time to be with her family because West's show was announced so last-minute, which didn't go without controversy. After West announced his time slot for Yeezy Season 5, Council of Fashion Designers of America—aka CFDA—head Steven Kolb called the rapper's impromptu notice "disruptive" and "unfair" to WWD. That move inspired Kanye to reschedule his show with even shorter notice to avoid showing at the same time as Marchesa. "[West] explained that once he realized Marchesa was in the time slot, he immediately looked at alternative options," Kolb later said.
Of course, given Jenner's past statements on her work-family life balance, those circumstances might not have made her feel any better about missing out on the show. "I don't want to be forgotten about because I have to work a lot," she famously said on an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians last year. Considering how ubiquitous her face has become though, it's hard to imagine anyone actually forgetting about her.
So whatever, Kendall Jenner didn't attend the Yeezy show, but she looked damn good walking the Anna Sui runway. Check out some of NYFW's best looks here.
