NYFW: Rosie Assoulin hosts tea party for Fall 2017 presentation

If you were hungry or needed a minute to sit down after running around for NYFW Monday, Rosie Assoulin had you covered.

Gallery 2 at Skylight at Clarkson Square was arranged like an old-fashioned living room, with couches covered in plastic (just like at grandma's house!) and tea carts and appetizer towers scattered around.

"We had a stuffy, old sitting room concept," Assoulin told Footwear News about the conceptualization of the aesthetic. "A grand salon with upholstered and tufted furniture, with clawed feet and wooden spindle legs. We worked with craftsmen to develop hand-turned wood heels and tufting details."

And though the models posing (and mingling and munching) around the perimeter of the space captivated guests in Assoulin's quintessential ruffles, flower-power patterns, tweed and plaid, the shoes took center stage -- as Assoulin debuted her very-first footwear collection. Everything from sling back flats (we can totally see Meghan Markle in them) to heels that mimicked the legs of the throwback couches became the focus of the affair.
