Mom helps deliver her own baby via C-section

Warning: Graphic imagery

Last month, a mother from Australia helped deliver her own baby through a "maternal-assisted C-section". A photo of the intimate moment is going viral.

Sarah Toyer knew she wanted the birth of her fourth child to be different.

So, she talked to all of her doctors and nurses about getting the chance to deliver her own child. Although she has three older children, none of them were born naturally. "It was important to me because I had never been able to push my baby out and experience a normal labour and birth, " Toyer told Babble.

Toyer had the incredible support of the hospital staff, on-call surgeon and her husband. Like any other surgeon, Toyer scrubbed in to her own surgery.

Fifteen minutes into the delivery, the doctor lowered the screen. Toyer was able to, quite literally, lift her baby out of her body. She posted the photo to Facebook.

"It was the most incredible thing I have ever done," Toyer wrote.
