What to wear on an airplane

I've had a little break from traveling over the past couple of months, but it's about to start up again in full swing! I've already had a couple of trips this month, and Fashion Month is right around the corner, so I'm going to be spending mannnyyyy hours on airplanes.

Especially on long plane rides (hello, Europe), having an outfit you feel relaxed and comfy in is pretty important. I basically have five pieces I always include when deciding what to wear on an airplane:

1. Jeans – I am definitely a jeans-girl most days anyways, and when I'm on a plane I like to be comfortable without feeling too dressed down and tired, so jeans are the perfect in between.

2. Flats – I have seen some flight attendants and business women rock the heels while traveling, but I am all for slipping into some nice flats or sneakers, especially if I know I'll be walking a lot around the airport.

3. Favorite Tee – I switch between an easy graphic tee and more dressed up tops depending on my mood, but either way I usually pick a favorite tee!

4. Small Bag – Most airlines allow a carry on and a personal item, so I always make sure to have one bag that's a little smaller and can fit under the seat in front of me. It's even better if I can make that a cute bag I'll wear a few times while I'm on the trip as well.

5. Pack a layer – Inside the small bag, I pack an extra layer because it's always super warm when you're first getting on the plane and then freezing once you're in the air! I love it when they had out free blankets, but my extra layer is always there just in case :)

Maxin' out

" I ordered this blue and white paisley dress from Macy’s last week and have been wearing it nonstop.  FYI it runs a bit big so I recommend sizing down.  I paired it with my new gold lace up sandals from Steve Madden that are ideal for walking around the city in." - With Love From Kat

Loafer love

"Back in Vancouver, the weather has been abnormally splendid in that it’s sunny and hot. We spent some time feeding the birds (in reality, dodging them) on Granville Island.Love my Lacoste car shoes more than anything these days! They are beyond walking on a cloud."- Jetset Justine

Green and grand

"I still love to travel to new cities, so a trip to the Asheville/Maggie Valley area of North Carolina is where Adam and I spent the past week. The 8 hour drive brought us to an adorable cabin in the woods with picturesque views of the mountains." - Poor Little Girl

Orange you glad you came?

"I went with this new Old Navy romper (it’s only $36!). I never typically go for orange hues but I loved the deeper shade and the fit is perfect — so comfortable and versatile! I paired it with these adorable fringe sandals, also from Old Navy, and my go-to sunhat." -Advice From a Twenty Something

Perfect in pink

"This is my go-to outfit when I’m cruising around and playing tourist in my own city: jeans or white jeans, a button-down, a light layer, comfy shoes, big sunnies, and a pop of color." - Rhyme and Reason

Striped and ready

"Black converse go with nearly everything and they’re comfortable. A black leather jacket because it gets chilly at night in some destinations {i.e. San Fran in the summer} and it layers well. Lastly, a black cross-body bag to hold the necessities {read: stop trying to lug a ginormous bag with too much junk that you don’t need." - Impossibly Imperfect
