Last adopted dog gets sweet send-off by animal shelter

A Hawaiian animal shelter's last dog was adopted just in time for the New Year, and was given a proper send-off from the facility.

Beauty, a 5-year-old pooch, was part of the Hawaiian Humane Society's "Clear the Shelter" campaign, an effort to have all of their animals adopted before the New Year.

The shelter waived adoption fees, beginning on December 27, and before they knew it, Beauty was the last one to go.

So, the organization honored the dog with a human tunnel and rounds of applause in a heartwarming farewell.

"We wanted to see as many animals in loving homes before the New Year, which would then allow us to focus our attention on the animals currently in our care that are not available for adoption," Pam Burns, the shelter's president, told InsideEdition.com.

It was the first time in the organization's 130-year history that all animals up for adoption found families.

"Jan (the woman who adopted her) saw Beauty's photo on our website and it was love at first sight. Beauty, now named Nani, was the perfect fit for Jan," Burns said. "We really wanted to do something special to commemorate this extraordinary event."
