The best times to do your holiday shopping revealed

By Patrick Jones, Buzz60

The race is on for holiday shopping.

It's December, which means we're in the thick of it when it comes to making sure we get the perfect gifts for everyone on our list.

We have to worry about avoiding crowds and saving money -- but thankfully Foursquare has some helpful data on both.

In terms of finding the best times to get to the stores, Foursquare says Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays are the lowest traffic days at stores.

Each day is actually best for certain items as well. For example, the Foursquare research shows Monday is the best time to buy cosmetics, Thursday is good for hardware items and bookstores and Friday is the best time to shop for groceries and at big-box retailers.

The site also mentions that Sunday morning is best for electronics and craft stores.

Now when it comes to deals, it seems like it's the opposite -- meaning deals can be found on the most busy shopping days -- which makes sense. People flock for a bargain.

So we guess you have to pick one -- deals or crowds. Such is life!
