Classy gifts for the gentlemen
I think that everyone would agree with me (men included) when I say that shopping for men can be really challenging. I learned this pretty early in life when we would shop for my dad and every year for about 12 years he received a different golf related item. You know how many golf gadgets, towels and clubs we've given him? A lot.
PATAGONIA WATER RESISTANT JACKET • CHILLSNER BEER CHILLER • BOSE NOISE CANCELLING HEADPHONES • BOSE BLUETOOTH SPEAKER • GROOMING KIT • ENGRAVED CUFFLINKS • SNEAKERS • BARBOUR MEN'S JACKET • DANIEL WELLINGTON WATCH (use code 5FT2 for 15% off!) • WOOL SCARF • SLIMFOLD WALLET • GARMENT BAG
Now with my Dad, MG, and brother in law to shop for I find myself having to extend my search beyond the basics. This year I actually got a jump start of all of my shopping and have a few things lined up for the gentlemen in my life. I rounded up 12 gift ideas above as a place to start, but here are some of my tips for shopping for the guys:
1. Choose something that aligns with their hobbies
Like I mentioned, we always used to get things for my Dad that were golf related because in his free time that was his favorite thing to do. Does he love watching football? Get him a jersey, hat or sweatshirt from his favorite team! Hobbies are usually a good place to start for brainstorming.
2. Assess his closet. What's missing?
Does he only have one tie that he wears repeatedly? Bingo. Is his favorite plaid shirt 5 years old and has a hole in it? Done. Is he always searching for cufflinks for dressier days? Check out his side of the closet and see what's going on – you can usually find an opportunity in what you don't see.
3. You can't go wrong with staples
Whether it's a shave kit, scarf or nice everyday watch the staple pieces are always safe, even if they already have something similar to it. MG has this jacket and wears it religiously – it's a great everyday staple for the winter. I see more guys wearing these watches and after owning two of the women's ones myself have to say it's an amazing gift. (use the code 5FT2 to get 15% off through January!)
4. What makes him the happiest?
Think about the things that really put a smile on his face or what he wants after a long day from work. Is he a beer drinker? Find something fun like this beer chillers or get him a yeti tumbler for camping and hunting. If he loves to travel, maybe it's time to help him invest in some nice luggage.
5. When in doubt... technology
Most guys love technology. Whether it's a bluetooth speaker for the house or pool or a new phone, they usually don't spend on those things themselves and love receiving them.
