People are heartbroken nobody wanted to pet this sad pit bull
Halloween is a spooky night, but there's nothing scary about this sad pit bull dressed up for the occasion.
William, an 18 year old from Massachusetts, posted a heartbreaking to Twitter of his dog Dublin on Halloween. He was apparently sad that no trick-or-treaters wanted to pet the dog while his mother handed out candy.
William is away from home at college, but called his mom on Halloween night to catch up. That's when she told him the heartbreaking news.
"She was passing out candy and said that my dog was crying because people wouldn't pet him. That broke my heart, because my dog is the sweetest thing ever," William told Mashable.
William's tweet has racked up over 48,000 retweets at the time of writing and upset a ton of dog lovers in the process.
William later posted an update saying that his aunt made a new rule that kids needed to pet the dog in order to receive some candy.
That may sound a bit harsh, but it seemed to have worked. William shared a photo of Dublin on Monday where he looked much happier.
"He loves cuddling and running around in the yard. He's just an all around great dog who wants to love everyone around him. So to hear that people didn't want to pet him broke my heart," William told Mashable.
Pit bulls have a stigma around them, but just look at how lovable this pup is.
"To see so much support around ending the stigma around pit bulls being violent makes me so happy," William told Mashable. "They act as you treat them, just like any other breed."
