America's best corn mazes of fall 2016 are over-the-top creative

Updated

We have entered fall no-man's land. Halloween has ended, but Thanksgiving is a ways away. The apple trees are picked clean and jack-o-lanterns are starting to stink, but snow is still a couple weeks in the future for most. Even the corn mazes are nearing the end of their days.

This fall, farmers across America took chunks out of their corn fields to let us run around and pretend we are in 'Field of Dreams.'

Some of 2016's corn mazes tapped into childhood nostalgia like the 50th anniversary of the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown at Countryside Citrus in Florida, the 50th year of Star Trek at Richardson Farm in Illinois and some supersized Super Mario Bros. at Stoughton Farm in New York.

Others decided to get into the 2016 election spirit with mazes honoring our candidates. Both Fantozzi Farms in California and Cambria Corn Maze in New York decided not to pick sides. Instead, both of the major candidates got maize portraits.

However, just as the election is about to end, so will this year's corn maze fun. Many farms held their last day on Halloween and others are stretching it one more week.

Even if these some of these attractions are closed until next fall, check out some of this year's most impressive mazes and make a mental note for 2017.
