This airline will let you track your luggage in real time

Say goodbye to luggage drama as Delta introduces a new way for you to track your bag.

Barcode bag scanning will now be a thing of the past. An update to the Delta Airlines app will pair your luggage with a Radio Frequency Identification tag, or RFID, that will allow you to be one step ahead of your belongings.

Radio waves will capture data stored in the RFID chip in the bag, keeping tabs on where your bag is at all times.

1,500 belt loaders across 84 Delta stations will give a green light when the bag is in the right place or a red light when it isn't, telling the agent to reroute it.

According to the airline, this technology is 99.9 percent accurate when it comes to baggage arriving at its correct destination.

Travelers will be fully informed through the app about the status of their bag, and will even be able to follow its journey on a map.

Another update is expected soon that will include push notifications.
