Most millennials have never eaten one item from a popular fast food restaurant

Millennials are obsessed with food, often calling themselves foodies, taking pride in discovering innovative dishes and small crafty restaurants.

And the Instagram craze of showing off a beautiful plate of pasta or cupcakes continues to grow.

But why are millennials not having Big Macs? Well, turns out the golden arches are not that hip anymore.

The Wall Street Journal reports that many 20-somethings have never eaten a Big Mac. Specifically just one in five millennials have ever had the juicy iconic burger.

Even though the fast food chain is trying everything to stay relevant, like launching the all-day breakfast menu, they're still having trouble keeping sales up.

The demographic craves fresh ingredients and smaller craft burgers that promise made to order beef patties other than McDonald's frozen ground beef.

The chain has attempted the made to order approach with higher quality ingredients but that comes at a price, and customers are not willing to $5 for that.

With competitors like Shake Shack and In-and-Out they're gonna have to step up their game.
