Rhea may not look like most other birds, but she's inspiring people around the world.

The 2-year-old lovebird from Boston suffers from Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease which caused her to lose all her feathers. The condition often also causes beaks and claws to become brittle and deformed, the Parrot Society of the UK reports.

Her adoptive mom, Isabella Eisenmann, unfortunately had to field some hateful comments when she first started the animal's social media account.

"People would say things like, 'Kill her,' or 'She's disgusting," Eisenmann told The Boston Globe. "I was worried it would turn into something negative, but I let it go and continued posting stuff."

Soon Rhea had loving fans from all across the globe sending her well wishes and following her daily shenanigans.

Eisenmann says Rhea's illness causes her to feel cold constantly. She often swaddles the bird in fuzzy socks and covers her with a thick blanket during the night.

Rhea has to avoid contact with other birds because her disease is highly contagious. Instead she pals around with Eisenmann's Yorkshire terrier named Nickie.

Eisenmann is thrilled that people around the world are captivated by Rhea's story.

"When I saw her, I just fell for her," she told The Boston Globe. "I knew she was special."
