OnlyOnAOL: The five most startling lipsticks you need for fall
By: Donna Freydkin
Let's just go ahead and say it: neutrals are a no-no for fall.
OK, that might be a bit extreme -- we still love our earthy reds and browns -- but there's a whole new lipstick trend in town. Blues, greens, purples, blacks and silvers are popping up on puckers all over. (For extra makeup madness, watch our interview with "Allure" beauty guru Michelle Lee above).
Here's how to pull off these edgy shades without looking like an "American Horror Story" victim.
"Keep the skin fresh and glowing, and the eye clean. Curl your lashes and add just a flick of mascara. Fill in the brow for balance and and go for it," says Keri Russell's makeup artist Tina Turnbow.
Adds Elizabeth Banks' makeup artist Fiona Stiles: "Fresh looking, glowy skin will also keep the look fresher and lighter versus a matte foundation which will, again, take you into a more theatrical, heavy look. I would say that the real tip is just wearing it like you own it. If you're going to wear a bold color, feel bold. Be bold. And just rock it."
And our favorite shades:
Urban Decay Vice lipstick in Frostbite
Lipstick Queen Frog Prince color-changing lipstick
Dior couture color in Visionary Matte
Kat von D studded kiss lipstick in shimmer navy
Bite beauty amuse bouche lipstick in kale
