Altuzarra runs with a playful fruit motif for his Spring/Summer 2017 collection

Updated

If Joseph Altuzarra sees anything trending next spring and summer, it's arguably a belted or tied waist.

Whether it was paired with a ruffle skirt or sweater dress, cinched on top of a long coat or hidden underneath a gingham blazer, a belt or tie (of various materials and patterns) was incorporated in nearly every look that made it down the runway at Altuzarra's Spring/Summer 2017 show Sunday.

Though florals were frequent, the designer seemed to have the most fun with a playful fruit motif -- with lemons and cherries (to name a few) making refreshing appearances on various dresses, blazers and even tights.

This is just the beginning:

We can't help but wonder if the designer is trying to remind us to get our daily fill of fruit.

And among an otherwise lighthearted collection (did we mention the fruit?), we can't forget to call attention to the touches of python, leather and metallic that added just the right amount of edge.
