While women currently do the majority of the housework, researchers believe that could be about to change.

According to research by Privilege Home Insurance, over the next 50 years some of the more traditional female household chores will be taken over by men.

Washing clothes will apparently be the first domino to fall, with men set to take over in nine years time. Cleaning the bathroom will shift a few years after that, with cooking next in line.

Researchers found that some tasks had already made the switch, with men taking the brunt of the burden when it comes to ironing and running the dishwasher.

As for traditionally male jobs, like gardening, washing the car and taking out the trash, those show no signs of going the other way anytime soon.
